Doctor Who

I got this yesterday from Doug as an early birthday pressie, right after watching the two hour Doctor Who special.

It can hold a 6 pack of soda and keep them cold (it has a warm setting also), the light on top actually works and makes that famous sound when you open the door (can be turned off). My geek boy obviously knows the way to my heart.

If One Day

If one day you feel like crying.
Call me. I don’t promise to make you laugh,
But I can cry with you.

If one day you want to run away.
Call me. I don’t promise to to ask you
To stop, but I can run with you.

If one day you don’t want to listen.
Call me. I promise to be there for you,
And I promise to be very quiet.

If one day you call me, and there is
No answer. Come fast to see me.
Perhaps I need you.

My New Office

Needed to post these, too. Doug and I decided to swap offices, and I got the loft that overlooks down into the living room. He used the loft as his office for the last 18 years (he works from home), and it’s funny to watch him go up the stairs and instinctively turn right. He catches himself most times hehe. The reason we swapped is he wanted to be able to close the door during conference calls, which he is on almost daily, for meetings with the folks at Amazon. This way I don’t have to turn off the television or music, and I can continue on about my day without interrupting his work.

Homemade Blondies

Blondies

Blondies

Blondies from scratch, and they turned out delicious! Doug helped, and we used chocolate chips since we didn’t have any butterscotch chips.

Not my recipe… can’t recall where I snagged it.

Blondies Recipe

1/2 cup of butter, melted
1 cup of tightly packed dark brown sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon of baking soda
Pinch of salt
1 cup of all-purpose flour
1/3 cup of butterscotch chips (chopped walnuts and chocolate chips are equally tasty)

Directions

1 Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly butter and flour an 8X8 pan. Whisk together the melted butter and sugar in a bowl.

2 Add the egg and vanilla extract and whisk.

3 Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt, mix it all together. Add the butterscotch chips or other mix-ins.

4 Pour into the pan and spread evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool. Cut into squares and serve.
